
The Somali Communities Championship kicked off with its first 6-aside football match between Sudan and Ethiopia on 11th September 2025 at Cali Gadhle Stadium in Hargeisa City. The thrilling encounter ended in a 3-3 draw, setting an exciting tone for the tournament.

Prior to the match, a vibrant launch ceremony was held, featuring all 15 participating teams. The event included a parade and a clear presentation of the tournament rules, ensuring all teams and fans understood the competition’s structure and expectations.
Looking ahead, today, Friday 12th September 2025, Kenya will play their opening match against Djibouti at the same venue, with kickoff scheduled for 6pm. This match has generated significant interest, as Kenya boasts the largest contingent of foreign fans and is widely regarded as a strong contender for the championship title.
